TIRANA, December 12
Tourism remains one of the most dynamic sectors of the Albanian economy and the latest data on the balance of payments unveiled by the Bank of Albania (BoA) confirm this fact. International tourist arrivals generated about Euro 1.3 billion during the first nine months of 2017. Revenues from international arrivals increased by 13 percent compared to the same period of 2016. The highest level of revenues, over Euro588 million, was registered during the third quarter of the year, which coincides with the summer peak season.
Based on the data provided by the Albanian Institute of Statistics, 4.2 million international citizens visited Albania during January-September 2017. Most of the visitors were Kosovans, Macedonians, Greeks, Italians, Polish, etc. What was noticed during this year was a decrease in the number of Kosovan visitors and an increase in the number of Italian visitors.
On the other hand, even the expenditures of Albanian citizens abroad increased to Euro 974 million. However, BoA confirms a positive balance of payments.
