TIRANA, October 24
After years of waiting, the government finally adopted the criteria and regulations for hotels rating. This decision also paves the way for the classification of hotels based on the star rating category. The businesses that will operate in this sector have the right to open eight types of accommodation services, which are: inn, hostel, camping, hotel, motel, resort, spa, and bed and breakfast.
On the other hand, all these subjects will answer to about 421 questions related to sanitary and hygienic conditions, details about cuisine and food, room service, etc.
Further on, every hotel must collect the minimum points in order to qualify for the stars rating category. If a hotel fails to achieve this, it would not receive the qualification certificate that allows the subject to operate in a specific category.
In order to get two stars, the hotel must collect 290 points. Some 151 points are acquired by the list of criteria set by the Ministry of Tourism while the other points must be combined with optional criteria.
According to the official definition, an accommodation structure is the one that offers to domestic or international tourists for no longer than a year service such as sleeping, food, and other conforming to the standards defined for a specific category.
Each category of accommodation structures is defined by a specific system, which includes specific distinctive signs.
