The tourism balance in Albania for the first quarter of 2016 was considered positive. This was confirmed by the latest report on the balance of payments that the Bank of Albania (BoA) published on Tuesday. According to this report, Albanian citizen spent Euro 216 million abroad only during the first three months of 2016.
On the other hand, foreigners that traveled to Albania, mostly tourists, spent about Euro 283 million. Therefore, there is a Euro 67 million surplus over three month period. Based on the available potential in this sector, authorities aim at stimulating growth of the products that can be offered.
Travellers are divided in two main groups, those that travel for leisure and for business. In the meantime, the number of foreigner that entered Albania and Albanians that travel abroad has increased respectively by 27 and 21 percent.
