TIRANA, December 1
The platform on the first Albanian stock market for agricultural products was launched on Wednesday. The purpose of the stock market is to avoid price speculations. The platform will operate in one of the southern districts with abundant production. Prices will be regulated through an electronic system.
βThere will be a set reference price based on the offers submitted by producers. Meanwhile, the system will calculate the minimum, average and maximum price for agricultural products,β Minister Panariti said.
Bylaws will complete the legal frame of the stock market project after discussions with stakeholders. The last thing to decide is if the stock market will be state-owned or administrated by a private subject.
Participation in the stock market will be free, but fiscal registration is required both for farmers and traders.
The stock market will help to define sale, purchase and export prices and it will also help with the amount of imported agricultural goods.
Based on official data, Albanian agricultural exports increased significantly. Over 24,000 tons more than in 2014 have been exported to the regional and EU markets.
