The agricultural productivity in Albania is increasing rapidly as well as exports in this field. This has come due to many incentives by the government for the support of farmers by applying various subsidies and funding schemes, aimed at boosting agricultural development. One of the most successful programs in this sector is AgroKapital, part of Creative Business Solutions project funded by USAID.
The experts that are supervising and managing the project have undertaken several supporting schemes in the Dibra region, one of which is the investment made in a factory of apple processing. Through this project, local entrepreneurs in the field of agribusiness will profit grants and loans in investing in modern technology for fruit processing factories.
The investment aims to solve effectively the problem of the overproduction of apples and the processing of third grade apples into juice, since they cannot be traded to consumers. Such investment will bring in the countryโs market a new original product and will reduce looses and costs of farmers.
The establishment of such factory indicates that farmers of Dibra region will have a secure market for apples and thus this will increase their revenues and open new jobs for locals as well. The CBS project will offer trainings for employees and farmers as well, in order to ensure the processing of apples based on international standards and criteria.
Most of the residents of Dibra region are considered as self employed in the agricultural sector, based on statistics. The relief and the climate conditions offer excellent opportunities for the development of the agriculture and the cultivation of a high number of products, such as apples, beans, potatoes, pears, cherries and nuts.
