During a three day official visit in Hong Kong the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama invited Chinese investors to invest in Albania while speaking at “Hong Kong and Albania Trade & Investment Forum” in front of 100 Chinese businessmen. In his speech, Rama pointed out the potential Albania has in natural resources and labor market, as a country full of opportunities for foreign investors.
The Prime Minister declared: “Investing in Albania doesn’t mean to invest only in Albania but in a larger market and to have bigger expansion potential and opportunities in an area that includes the entire Western Balkans. A few years ago people could not imagine this area as a joint market but today this is a fact. As for taxes and labor costs we are in a very favorable position, since the labor cost is low. Our purpose is to attract not only investors but also tourists from China.”
According to Rama, the government aims to reformate the economic development model based on real development resources as oil and minerals, energy, tourism, agriculture and production. The Primer spoke also about the strategic geographical position of Albania, the cheap labor cost and the low taxes applied to investors.
