Prime Minister Edi Rama has vowed to take immediate measures to protect the environment by compiling a new legal package of measures in this regard. Speaking at “The development of Natural Resources in harmony with the environment” conference, Rama declared that in the upcoming weeks the government will launch a detailed package of laws which aims to eliminate the environmental criminality. “We will not allow investments to harm the nature and the environment”, declared the Primer at the conference.
According to Rama, the government will not allow that vast investments as hydropower plants and mining to destroy the environment and to impinge the future of the country and of new generations. Currently, said Rama, there are 133 hydropower plants exercising activity in protected areas, 42 of which are producing and 23 of them under construction.
“I want to give all a clear message that we will not stop and will not tolerate anyone that manifests barbaric behavior towards the environment. The government will apply an innovative project in order to identify in real time all law offenders and people who abuse with the environment,” stated Rama at the conference.
