Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama had a visit in Berlin, Germany, invited by “Friedrich Ebert” foundation. During this visit he declared that Albania has already fulfilled all the requests made by European Union and that Albania now deserves to win the candidate status.
He added that candidate status is like an “antidepressive pill” for societies aspiring to be members of EU. “We already passed the test and I believe that Albania deserved to win the candidate status since December 2013. The candidate status is very different from being a member of European Union, but it is also something that does not connects directly with the negotiations.
The candidate status is like an antidepressive pill for societies that need hope, while they are not totally ready to be part of EU or to start negotiations”- said Prime Minister Rama.
In the meantime, Rama suggested that Albania should try to make its own way and its focus should not be only the cooperation of European Union and Southeast Europe countries because according to him, one thing is the individual development of a country and another thing the regional cooperation.
