TIRANA, October 18
The European Commission will adopt on November 9 the decision to open accession negotiations with the European Union (EU) with Albania, Balkan Web reported on Tuesday.
“The news was confirmed for BW by official sources from Brussels, who said: Albania is expected to get a positive recommendation for opening accession negotiations, but with one condition, concrete results from the justice reform,” BW reported.
The methodology will the same applied in 2015. Progress will be assessed for each of the chapters.
Moreover, it says: “The same sources confirmed for BW that the fact that the Democratic Party (DP) filed a suit to the Constitutional Court regarding the vetting law, will not be an obstacle for getting a positive recommendation for Albania and launching negotiations.”
Afterwards, member countries will decide if negotiations with Albania will be launched or not. This would be the second great achievement for Albania after the EU candidate status was granted in 2014.
