Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned all businessmen that do not pay social insurance for their employees that they will be imprisoned, at the conference organized in the framework of the Social Services Convention.
βThe formalization of labor is very important in Albania. In one year we have about 81.000 new employees whose social insurances are getting paid by the companies they work for. A part of them have found jobs with the support of the employment scheme and a part of them are paying social insurances for the first time. The illegal work is punishable by law and we will not tolerate it,β declared Rama during his speech.
In turn, the Minister of Social Welfare presented all governmental incentives for businesses, especially for garment industry businesses which have benefited from the Employment Promotion Fund. The fund schemes have opened new vacancies and reduced the unemployment, according to official statements.
The conference was attended by representatives of UNICEF and the Chief of the Swiss embassy mission to Albania. They highlighted the fact that social insurance and assistances for people in need should be reviewed carefully, since they help in the reduction of inequality and poverty.
