Prime Minister Edi Rama was invited in “Le Invasioni barbariche” talk-show in La7 Italian TV to speak about Albania and the trend in increase of Italians that choose Albania to invest and live, on February 18. The Prime Minister also spoke about several questions which are concerning Europe and Albania nowadays, such as ISIS, foreign investments, religious tolerance in Albania, ect.
Speaking about religious tolerance in Albania, Rama gave as an example the diverse religion beliefs among his family members, saying that he was catholic, his wife muslim , his older son orthodox and the younger member of the family, Zaho, is a catholic after being blessed by Pope Francis during his visit to Albania, said Rama.
The presented Daria Bignardi quoted the words of the Italian author Roberto Saviano, which published an article about the opportunities Albania is offering to Italians in doing businesses, opportunities that they are missing in Italy. Saviano said: “We always used to see Albania as our little poor sister across the sea but this is not what Albania looks nowadays and is time to change the way we think about it.”
Rama invited once again Italian businesses to visit Albania and invest because “in Albania you will find a better business climate and les procedures”.
In past years, the number of Italian businesses and citizens living and working in Albania has increased tremendously, due to the easing the country offers to foreign investors in doing business. “Even Albanians have opened about 38 thousand businesses here in Italy and thousands of others work and live here,” said PM Rama.
Asked about the impact of ISIS and the thread it represents about European countries, Rama said: “Seeing on TV what is happening in countries where ISIS is, would be very wrong to think this is something that does not belong to us, since it is happening far away from us. This is something that can happen in our homes, as proved by Paris attacks. Europe needs a true strategy and project. Refugees that come from Middle East cannot be abandoned in the middle of the sea nor can be hosted by a sole country,” declared Rama about the war on ISIS and the refugee crisis Italia is facing in latest years.
“The European Union is the only solution for Europe’s countries to confront economic crisis and other threads, only by staying united. There are comics called “anti-Europeans” which oppose the unification of European countries, but I have to say that this is not a solution but we need to believe and create a more tolerant and united Europe,” said Rama in the talk show.
His declarations went viral on Twitter by Italian spectators using #edirama hashtag, which were surprised by him. “After hearing him, I want to move to Albania” tweeted an Italian.
