TIRANA, June 29
Albanian authorities increased solar power production capacities for all the investors interested in the construction of photovoltaic plants. The set price of Euro 100 per MW for the first 15 years is guaranteed. So far, ten photovoltaic plant permits each with an installed capacity of 2 MW have been issued. The remained capacities will be used for bigger investments.
The Albanian authorities have planned to cover the price for capacities that reach a total of 120MW. By guaranteeing the power price, the Electric Power Distribution Operator aims at encouraging the private sector to focus on the renewable energy sources and investments.
“This is a guaranteed price for a period of 15 years calculated based on a method that foresees the return on investment and all the other parameters in 15 years,” adviser at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Entela Cipa said.
Moreover, she added that the investors who have already received the permits made progress. In the meantime, Cipa mentioned the option of organizing auctions for major investment in photovoltaic plants with installed capacity over 2MW.
Based on these expectations, power supply by photovoltaic plants might begin in 2019.
