Tirana, December 15, 2015
The number of tourists in Albania has increased by 16% during the period of January – September 2015 compared to the same period of a year ago, as stated by the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism.
In a press interview, the Director of Tourism Development at the Ministry of Tourism, Sonia Popa, declared that the Ministry will soon approve several regulations as the standardization of tour guides and the classification of accommodative structures.
Popa also declared that many positive developments have helped in the increase of tourists as well as the lack of infrastructure has hampered the increase of the number of tourists. The lack of electrical energy and the cleanliness have been two disturbing components that have affected negatively in this regard.
Tourism is a very important sector for the country’s economy since it employees locals in tourism areas and increases the revenues for families and businesses.
