Number of Albanian Internet Users Up in 2018

TIRANA, April 9

The number of internet users by household through a landline connection in Albania in 2018 reached over 361,000 active users. According to the data provided by the Postal and Electronic Communications Authority (AKEP), active users grew by 23 percent or some 67,000 new users during the previous year.
Most of the internet subscribers in Albania use their connection for more than one communication service. They often go for subscriptions that offer also landline telephone and TV.
The number of users that subscribe to multiple services reached 225,000 in 2018.
The inclusion of internet TV streaming services helped to boost the expansion of internet penetration
Yet, the low rate of landline phone penetration by household in remote areas or small towns remains an obstacle to increasing the number of people that are connected.
