National Registration Center published a report on the number of new businesses registered in January-August period during 2014, according to which about 12.300 new businesses opened in Albania. These businesses come from main sectors of the country’s economy such as restaurants&hotels, processing industry, transport and telecommunication and also social services.
Compared to a year before, the number has doubled or speaking in percentage, the number of new businesses increased by 95%, since in 2013 NRC reported that only 6300 new businesses were established. The cities were most of these new businesses established are Durresi, Kukesi, Shkodra and Lezha (located in northern Albania).
“This tendency will continue as new businesses are opening rapidly and their number has increased dramastically. Following these figures, we believe that the number of new businesses opened only for 2014, to be 19.000 at the end of this year,” says the head of NRC, Vasilika Vjero.
NRC will publish an annual report at the end of this year to give a comprehensive view of the number of new businesses opened during 2014, and the number of businesses that have canceled their activity. According to the NRC, the number of canceled businesses in 2014 has decreased by 23% compared to the same period of 2013.
