The Norwegian Embassy to Kosovo will fund the irrigation system in Kukes County (Shishtavec village) in order to avoid problems for Kukesi farmers and to increase potatoes production. The project was presented during a meeting of Kukesi Prefect Safet Gjici with the Norwegian ambassador to Kosovo Jan Braathu, the Albanian ambassador to Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi, and Albanian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alban Zusi.
Gjici has thanked the Norwegian ambassador for the contribution of Norwegian Embassy in one of the most important project in agricultural sector in Shishtavec area in Kukes. The project will fund the reconstruction of irrigation canals and parcels for farmers in order to soil bio Albanian potatoes. According to Deputy Minister og Agriculture Zusi, the Ministry has prepared the tender for the reconstruction of the irrigation canals at a value of 350.000 million ALL.
This project, according to the Albanian ambassador to Kosovo, is a very important one for Kukes and Gjakove cities and for this will be organized a joint meeting of the respective local authorities in finding ways to boost the development of this sector.
The increase of production of potatoes in Shishtavec area in Kukes will increase exports of bio potatoes, helping local farmers to increase their revenues.
