Due to strong measures announced by the Albanian government for businesses which operate in touristic areas, all subjects that do not meet the set criteria during their activity, will be fined with 50 thousand ALL to 200 thousand ALL.
The new measures were announced during the presentation of the new draft law on tourism, which also contains several facilities for investors. According to the new draft law which is expected to approve by the parliament, the unauthorized usage of classification trademarks of accommodating structures will be fined with 150.000 ALL, while the exercise of the activity without license will be fined with 200.000 ALL.
The draft law proposes that the state will have an important role in the development of priority touristic areas and will play the role of the partner in different projects.
The criteria set for investors and businesses which currently operate or will invest in these areas predict that the classification and the categorization of the accommodating structures is an obligatory condition for exercising activity.
The classification process will regulate the hotelier sector, by setting a fair competition among hotels and restaurants and the increase of the quality of services. Every hotel will be subject to an official classification process which will define the ranking of each hotel based on the accommodation quality and the services it offers.
All businesses which operate in the tourism sector, especially in priority touristic areas, will be inspected by the Inspectorate of Tourism.
