Families in Albania will have the right to control their members about playing gambling by sending a complaint or a request to the relevant institutions to prevent people to enter or play in casinos. During the discussions at the parliamentary Commission of Producing Activities the Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani announced the new changes on “For gambling in the Republic of Albania”, saying that these changes aim to fight informality and fiscal evasion.
According to the changes on the law, casinos will be located outside the cities and in certain touristic points and they are obliged to register all the players. Players may be prevented to frequent or enter in casinos if the family makes a request. Another important change is the taxation scheme for the licensing of casinos which will vary from 400.000 ALL to 1 billion ALL based on the activity of casinos.
“Each casino will have its register of players and they will be located at a large distance from education institutions and religious communities. We have also ten folded the distance of two gambling points,” declared the Minister Cani.
Through these changes, the government aims to reduce informality regarding this sector, to improve the regulatory framework by implementing an online monitoring system for casinos within 2016 and is an open war against negative social effects of gambling in the Albanian society. The so far undertaken measures in this aspect have resulted in the sequestration of a considerable amount of gambling machineries and 35 casinos have been reported for not obtaining a license.
