In the edge of country’s gasification process, the government is compiling a new draft law to regulate the sector and avoid the creation of monopolies in the market. This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri at the meeting of the parliamentary Commission of Producing Activities. The draft law will provide regulations that aim to regulate the market and define the specific role of state institutions in this process.
The Minister declared that the diversification of energy production is the best alternative for the usage of gas. Gjiknuri declared that gas products will be first used by the industry sector which will initially be provided with an amount of 1 billion m2 gas. The gasification process will be then implemented to family consumers. Gjiknuri also declared that the hydroelectric power plant of Vlora will work with gas.
On September 9th, the Minister Gjiknuri announced that Swiss government will provide a grant of EUR 6.6 million to Albania for the gasification process, in the framework of TAP project implementation in the country, starting from 2016.
