The law on “Gambling” was discussed and approved on Thursday at the Economy Commission after the government submitted the latest proposals made by the parliament for this law.
The members of the Economy Commission said the government should not give monetary rewards to the Authority of Gambling Surveillance inspectors and proposed changes in the Article no. 17 by arguing that the government should not issue licenses for persons who are in debt with the government or have previously been sentenced for criminal offenses.
Other issues that were discussed among the Economy Commission members were the distance the gambling points should have with education and religious institutions. The law aims to transfer the gambling points in tourism areas in order to offer more entertaining alternatives for tourists.
Discussions were made also on the tax scheme the government will apply for such subjects. The Economy Commission members proposed that the government should tax these subjects based on their annual incomes.
