Agriculture and hunting activities had an annual increase by 1.2% of the added value in country’s economic growth for the third quarter of 2014, says a report issued by Bank of Albania. Agriculture experts declared that this percentage is lower than that of previous years, and this has come due to non convenient climate conditions, which affected the agricultural production in the third quarter of 2014.
Ministry of Agriculture announced new measures and initiatives that will be implemented during this year, in order to help farmers to increase agricultural production. Several supporting schemes and other easing policies regarding subventions for farmers have already started applying throughout Albania.
“Support to 50% of the investment” is one of the most important supporting schemes which has in focus the establishment of warehouses for agricultural and livestock products, the processing aspect of them and the support for farms with large surfaces.
Prior for grants will be subventions for farmers in flooded areas whose farms and products were partly or fully damaged. These supporting schemes aim to eliminate the informality and to increase employment in this sector as well as exports of Made in Albania products. Ministry of Agriculture figures say agriculture sector gives a big contribute in country’s economy and in the framework of this, this institution is working to boost production and competitiveness in this sector.
