On November 4th, the Ministry of Finances announced through a press declaration the liquidation of the Eurobond emitted in 2010, at an amount of EUR 322.5 million. The principal amount of the Eurobond was EUR 300 million while the interest rate was estimated to be EUR 22.5 million. The Eurobond emitted on November 4th of 2010 with a maturity of 5 years and an interest rate of 7.5%.
How did the Ministry manage to redeem the Eurobond? According to the press release, the Ministry has taken a loan at an amount of EUR 250 million with warranty from the World Bank and the amount of EUR 50 million has been ensured by the instruments emitted in the domestic market.
In the press declaration, the Ministry stresses that the EUR 300 ml Eurobond was the first emitted Eurobond of Albania in the international markets with the purpose to finance the budgetary deficit. The Ministry of Finances announced lately that the government is trying to emit another Eurobond in the international markets.
