Farmers and businesses which gather and trade medicinal plants in the country can be supported by the newest subsidy scheme, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture.
As it was announced several months ago, the Agency of the Agricultural Development has published the map of the areas where medicinal plants grow and farmers in these areas will benefit from subsidy scheme. The cities which are part of the map for medicinal plants are Tropoja, Hasi, Kukesi, Shkodra, Malesia e Madhe, Tirana, Kavaja, Kolonja, Kruja, Elbasan, Gjirokastra, Gramshi, Permet, Tepelena, Korca, Devolli, Pogradeci and Delvina.
The criteria set by the Agency of the Agricultural Development predicts that all farmers which will apply for grants must have paid the land tax and must have paid the social insurances including the previous month before the application deadline.
The scheme will give grants mainly to farmers or businesses which will plant new seeds during this year and the surface of land used for planting must be no less than 2 acres and no more than 10 acres.
The subsidy scheme for medicinal plants sector is one of the priority projects for the Ministry of Agriculture for this year, with the aim to boost and develop this sector.
