Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship will now be in charge of tourism sector, as announced by Prime Ministry office. Tourism sector will be part of Ministry of Economic Development with a decision of Prime Minister Edi Rama, following the changes in the structure of Ministry of Urban development. Β The decision approved on January 29 by President of the Republic of Albania, Bujar Nishani.
Eglantina Gjermeni, Minister of Urban Development said in a TV interview that this was a decision taken by PM Rama, without speaking about the reasons of this move. According to her, the change has been made since tourism sector and investments have joint projects and being directories in two different institutions has created difficulties and delays. Ministry of Urban Development is in charge of many difficult projects as the legalizations, urban planning and the identification of informal zones, added Gjermeni.
This change was made in order to ease the economic collaboration with Kosovo in trade, tourism and entrepreneurship terms, and other regional countries which bring thousands of tourists every year in Albania. Prime Minister Rama has continually praised the work done by its cabinet, by adding that no new changes are planned in the Ministry’s structure.
