Albanian Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani held a meeting with press representatives where he talked about the latest government’s initiative to fight informality and identify tax frauds. The Minister presented the strategy the government will follow to successfully undertake this important economic reform which will commence on September 1st of this year. “The main target of this wide action will be the big businesses and corporations,” declared Cani.
Cani also declared that in Albania operate more than 100 thousand active businesses, but about 30% of them do not use fiscal cases during their daily activity. According to him the government has appealed to private businesses to take the needed measures before the action starts.
The compilation of the draft reform started back in November 2014 and since then the government has been consistently communicating with business representatives, the IMF officials and the Ministry of Economy.
“We will start controls in big businesses but also small and medium-sized subjects starting from the hydrocarbons sector, tobacco sellers and small businesses. As a result, the implementation of this reform is estimated to allocate about $ 430 million to the state budget and these revenues will be used to increase administration wages and pensions,” stated the Minister of Finances, Shkelqim Cani.
