The Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri has declared at the parliamentary Commission of Laws that the Ministry is compiling a master plan for the gas sector which will not allow the creation of monopoly gas distributors which will provide gas supply for consummators or businesses.
According to Gjiknuri, this master plan will give competences to the Regulatory Entity for the surveillance of the gas market. “We will compile a master plan that will not create space for monopoly companies in the market. We have prepared the new act which will regulate the market of gas cylinders,” declared the Minister during the discussions on the draft law ‘For the natural gas sector’ at the Law Commission.
The new law aims to guarantee the secure and stable supply of natural gas to consumers by creating a competitive and integrated market in collaboration with regional and European markets, to provide service of high quality with affordable costs and to protect the environment.
It also predicts the policies and the regulations for the organization and the functioning of the natural gas market and the activities related to it, including the rights and the obligations of subjects that exercise activity in this field.
