The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Arben Ahmetaj has declared in a conference focused on the development of seasonal tourism in Albania that the supporting package for tourism foresees the reduction of VAT for subjects that operate in touristic areas.
“I have made a request at the Ministry of Finances for the reduction of VAT in touristic areas and I believe it will be approved, even though is difficult,” declared Ahmetaj. Another request that the Minister has made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the easiness of the visa regime for 12 countries, including the Middle East countries, China, Russia, ect.
Speaking about the removal of the exclusivity to the Tirana International Airport for airline operations, the Minister declared that soon in Albania will be established two new airports, one in Kukes city and another one in Saranda.
The Minister also praised the decision of the World Bank to approve the $1.2 billion assistance program to Albania, saying that the loan has a very low interest rate and will make able the efficient implementation of the reforms and the measures taken by the government.
