The Albanian Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Milva Ekonomi, was one of the government officials who held a speech at the NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly in Tirana. In her speech, Ekonomi emphasized the importance of the regional cooperation among Southeast Europe countries for these countries’ EU integration process.
According to Ekonomi, Balkan countries have many cooperation opportunities especially in the electro energetic sector, for which Albania is opened for possible cooperation with neighbor countries.
The Minister of Economic Development spoke about the economic development of Albania in the past years, considering the current state of the country’s economy as “an important transformation” although the economic situation seems stable. “In the past 5 years, Albania has attracted the highest amount of foreign investments in the region,” declared the Minister Ekonomi.
The justice reform is an urgent reform that should be implemented in the country in order to reduce corruption, said the Minister. According to her, 90% of Albanians want this reform to implement in order to solve other important issues.
The NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly Session was held in Tirana for three days in a row. The Assembly started on May 28th and this is the first time NATO is holding this event in Albania. The Assembly was attended by 250 parliamentary representatives from 28 NATO member countries and delegates from partner countries which discussed current international safety issues. This Assembly is a great opportunity for Albania, according to the Minister, since Albania contributes in the world peace.
