On Friday, the Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Arben Ahmetaj declared that the progress report issued by the European Commission is positive for the economic growth of the Albanian economy in the upcoming months.
According to him, the report praised the improved performance of Albania’s economy and shared some of the recommendations of the Commission for the further improvement of the economic situation. Ahmetaj declared that “the report evaluates that Albania is prepared to develop a functioning market economy. The country has made progress in improving the macroeconomic stability and the perspective for an economic growth has improved as well.”
One of the most important developments of the country’s economy is the opening of it towards the international markets, given that the amount of imports and exports has increased continually. It is estimated that the amount of imports and exports during 2014 was equal to the 92.3% of the Gross Domestic Product, while in 2008 it is estimated to be 86%.
