On Wednesday, the government held the first meeting of the Council of Investments, a newly established institution that aims to establish and enhance a direct dialogue between the government and businesses regarding the problems that foreign investors and businesses face in the country. The Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Entrepreneurship and Tourism spoke at the meeting regarding the current situation of Greece and the effects of it in country’s economy in short and long terms.
According to him, the heavy situation in Greece does not affect the Albanian economy and its growing tendency, saying that the economy is performing positively. During the first trimester of this year foreign investments increased significantly and Albania improved its position regarding the business climate, said Ahmetaj. “We will apply other measures for the increase of foreign investments and the boost of lending, given that we are also working with the World Bank for a project that aims to improve further the business climate,” added Ahmetaj.
The Council of Investments is a project that started as an idea on February 2014 and now is being implemented by the cooperation of the government with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, after they signed a Memorandum of Understanding last year.
