On Tuesday, October 13, the Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti welcomed in a meeting the USA ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu, at the Ministry of Agriculture premises. Their discussions focused on the enhancement of collaboration between the USAID and the Albanian government in the agriculture field, and on behalf of this, the Minister Panariti praised the continuous support the USA government has shown for the development of this sector in Albania.
The Minister added that the Albanian government will fully engage in the implementation of USAID projects in the country and presented to ambassador Lu in official figures the amount of production and exports in the agriculture field for the first semiannual of this year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, exports doubled during this period, compared to a year ago.
Ambassador Lu was also informed about the performance of reforms for food safety and water management, undertaken lately by the Ministry.
Other issues discussed by the ambassador Lu and Minister Panariti related to the massive flooding in southern Albania which has caused several damages and losses for farmers, and the current political developments.
