Albanian Minister of Finances Shkëlqim Cani is participating in the IMF and World Bank session in Washington DC. Asked by the Voice of America (Albanian edition), Cani assured that the increase the price of the energy has not been part of the discussions between the Albanian government and the IMF delegation.
According to Cani, the recommended reforms by the IMF experts do not include the increase of energy price but we need to take immediate measures against energy theft.
He highlighted the fact that the Albanian government has been very careful in the ongoing discussions with the IMF and that the price of the energy is not negotiable. There have been also discussions on the Budget 2015, in order to have a flexible fiscal package for 2015, a package that will help citizens, will support businesses and the state budget.
In addition, Cani declared that the main priority of budget 2015 is the economic growth and the payment of as much as possible outstanding debts.
