Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti held a meeting with the USA ambassador to Albania, Donald Lu and thanked him for the donations and the support shown to the Albanian government during the emergency state in southern Albania, caused by massive flooding.
According to the embassy’s press office, the Albanian Minister of Agriculture praised the worthy support of USA Embassy and its readiness to donate in the recovery program for flooded areas through a $750.000 fund by USAID.
In turn, USA ambassador Donald Lu ensured the Minister Panariti for the continuous support and engagement of American government in the development of agriculture sector through programs that aim the increase of production and the improvement of products’ quality. “I will personally engage in increasing the number of known businesses in the Albanian market,” declared Donald Lu.
In addition, the Minister of Agriculture pointed out the importance of American investments in Albania in the agriculture and food sectors. The two officials later discussed on the latest developments in country in the political sphere. The meeting of Albanian Minister of Agriculture and USA ambassador to Albania was attended by the Director of USAID in Albania, Marcus Johnson.
The massive flooding in southern Albania caused an emergency state after hundred of planted hectares, houses, farms and greenhouses were flooded and destroyed.
