TIRANA, February 20
Small enterprises in Albania remain the main factor for employment. According to the data provided by the Institute of Statistics (INSAT) on its Structural Survey of Enterprises 2016, there are 108,000 active enterprises in Albania. The data confirm that there are over 96,600 business, establishments with 1-4 employees. These businesses have the largest contribution to the annual growth rate. The number of Albanian enterprises in general increased by 3.8 percent in 2016 while investments reached Lek 221 billion.
“During 2016, the trade sector marked the highest percentage of turnover, 48.1 percent followed by the construction sector with 11.5 percent and the manufacturing sector with 11.4 percent. The sectors with the lowest percentage of turnover were the accommodation and restaurants sector (2.3 %), and the mining and quarrying sectors,” the survey confirms.
In the meantime, the sectors with the highest contribution to employment were the trade, service, and manufacturing sectors.
