Maritime transportation leads in trade exchanges for import and export merchandises. A new report published by INSTAT shows that the most used manners in trade exchanges are the maritime and terrestrial ways. During the first three months of this year about 68.9% of the value of exported merchandises and about 52.2% of the value of imported merchandise were transported through the sea.
The main merchandise groups that leaded exports via maritime transport were textile and shoes which comprised 43, 1% of the total amount of exports, “minerals, fuels and electrical energy” by 22.2% while construction materials and metals by 18.4%.
In turn, the leading groups of merchandises which were mostly imported via maritime transport were “machinery and equipments” which comprised 19.1% of the total amount of imports, while construction materials and textiles comprised each 16.5% and 16.1% of the total.
The report shows that imports entered in the Albanian market via maritime transport reached the value of ALL 60.175 million while the amount of exports was estimated to be ALL 40.175 million.
