Italian Levante harbor and Shengjin port authorities have signed a cooperation agreement on March 12th, in Lezha. The agreement consists in enhancing the mutual cooperation between the two harbors in order to ease the movement of passengers and merchandises from Italy to Balkan and East Europe countries.
The agreement was signed by the General Director of Shengjin Harbor, Gjovalin Tushaj and by Mario Mega, General Secretary of the Levante Port Authority. According to Gjovalin Tushaj, “Shengjin harbor is a small harbor located in a very strategic geographical location and is an important gate for north Albania. About 60% of merchandise directed to Italy passes through our harbor and for this reason we want to attract businesses to make Shengjin their favorite cross point.”
Tushaj added that Shengjin harbor authorities are committed in reducing bureaucracies and time for passengers and businesses, as well as in reducing the tariffs.
On the other hand, the General Secretary of the Levante Port Authority, Mario Mega, said that “cooperation opportunities between Levante and Shengjin harbors are big and for this we are showing a deep interest to collaborate.” According to him, Shengjin harbor can improve its performance and infrastructure by attracting EU funds.
