TIRANA, December 14
‘Let’s clean up Berat’ is the next stage of the national cleanup initiative and it will kick off on Sunday. Organized structures of volunteers, from the armed forces and the police, will stop in Berat for three days. This is one of the most important tourist sites in Albania and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but waste management has always been a problem in the city and its surrounding areas. The cleanup action will focus on Osumi River and in some of the most polluted areas such as the strait at Osumi promenade, Velabisht and Gorica Bridges. Other places where the groups of volunteers will clean up are the main roads and squares, Gorica and 13 Shtatori neighborhoods, and the area at the settlements of the Roma Community.
Let’s clean up Albania’ is an initiative launched on November 24 and it will continue for six months throughout the Albanian territory.
