TIRANA, October 31
Kuksi Airport, northeastern Albania, with go through a major reconstruction before starting operations. Flights to and from Kuksi Airport are expected to start in fall 2019, Prime Minister Edi Rama said during a visit to the remote village of Shishtavec.
He highlighted that the work for major upgrades to the existing airport will start in early 2019. According to the PM, the airport needs a runway extension and a new modern terminal.
“The existing airport will turn into an airport of international standards for low-cost flight operations,” Rama said.
Moreover, he added that based on a joint survey conducted with foreign experts, Kuksi airport will handle an annual average of 300,000 passengers.
Kuksi is one of the poorest regions of Albania, highly affected by migration and the airport would have a great impact on economic and social development.
