TIRANA, April 6
Cheap flights are finally coming to Albania as Kuksi Airport is expected to start operation in autumn. Thus, it will become the second functional airport in Albania. This decision follows the latest events in Kukes and the protest of local people against the toll on the Nation’s Road highway. Prime Minister Edi Rama held discussions on Thursday with Kuksi inhabitants regarding the road fee. The inhabitants asked the premier about the airport and the construction of a new stadium.
Rama said that that he was optimistic about the airport and that Albanian citizens will travel to the country for the end of year festivities through this airport.
The Premier also highlighted that the airport will be different from Rinas and Vlora airports as it will operate low-cost services. He added that currently, low-cost flights are not possible at Rinas airport due to the restricting concession contract.
Regarding the stadium, Rama said that the city needs one and it is part of the government program but at a later time.
