TIRANA, February 5
Kruja Albergo Diffuso is one of the best hotels to stay in 2024 according to National Geographic.
Under the headline ‘Here are the hotels we love for 2024’ National Geographic staff members made their annual list of 22 hotels based on factors such as connection with local communities and memory-making activities.
Kruja Albergo Diffuso is an accommodation model made on an Italian innovative scattered hospitality concept. It consists of different rooms spread in houses or villas in historical towns, mountain villages, or the countryside. Besides their close connection with locals, Albergi Diffusi is one of the most sustainable hotel models. It allows visitors to experience daily life in small historical towns and villages. It gives new life to old houses and supports locals to preserve their traditions in the face of modern architectural and urban development. Through historic preservation, it enhances a town’s tourism appeal and reflects the diversity of local heritage. New homes and buildings cannot be part of Albergi Diffusi stays.
Another benefit of these scattered rooms is that they are open all year round. Seasonality remains a major issue in the Albanian hospitality sector. Most hotels in small coastal areas close their doors when the summer season is over.
Albergo Diffuso appeals to responsible and eco-friendly travelers. Recent trends worldwide show that younger generations are more environmentally and socially conscious travelers. Gen Z travel choices are greatly impacted by sustainability considerations. Some surveys confirm the fact that travelers are willing to pay higher prices for travel services that incorporate sustainability values.
Kruja Albergo Diffuso is part of a project adopted by Risi Albania in cooperation with Albergo Diffuso.
The project goal is to expand further in Albanian villages in Gjirokastra, Korca, Kukes, and Dibra.
