Kosovo has become Albania’s second trade partner in terms of exports with 9.1% of the total, according to the Institute of Statistics. During January-July period Albania exported circa ALL 13.7 billion “Made in Albania” products towards Kosovo markets. According to official statistics, in 2015 exports towards Kosovo increased by 47% compared to the same period of 2014.
Kosovo mostly imports from Albania minerals, combustibles and electrical energy which comprise 47.7% of the total, which construction materials comprise 29% of the total amount of Albanian exports. Exports of combustibles and electrical energy doubled in the first seven months of 2015 while exports of food products increased by 45%, reaching the amount of ALL 1.4 billion and comprising 10% of the total amount of Albanian exports to Kosovo markets.
In turn, imports from Kosovo reached the value of ALL 3.3 billion during January- July period, similar to the same period of a year ago. Kosovo has become an important trade partner of Albania in the past years.
