The USA General Secretary of Foreign Affairs, John Kerry, is expected to hold a three hour official visit to Tirana on Sunday, February 14th, and will attend meetings with the President Bujar Nishani, the Prime Minister Edi Rama and the head of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha.
Kerry is visiting Tirana in the framework of the 25th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and the USA. In a press release, the Prime Ministry office announced that Kerry will arrive at Tirana International Airport “Nene Tereza” on Sunday at 9:00am, accompanied by Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State.
Kerry’s visit to Tirana is of high interest for the messages he will address to the Albanian political leaders, mainly regarding the judicial system reform for which the US Embassy to Tirana is playing an active role in ensuring its successful implementation.
The visit of Kerry was announced on February 4th by John Kirby, according to which “Kerry will meet Albanian political leaders to discuss about country’s Euro-Atlantic integration and the enhancement of bilateral cooperation between Albania and the USA.”
