The number of international citizens who visited Albanian for tourism purposes increased by 33 percent during the third quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015. According to the data provided by the Institute of Statistics, 1.5 million tourists visited Albania.
The increase of visitors was also confirmed by hotels and accommodation facilities. According to them, this trend is related to the insecure situation in Turkey.
Moreover, even the number of tourists coming in day trips increased by 165% during the third quarter. Albania is part of Balkans travel guides.
Further on, an increase of 46% was seen in the number of people that travel for business purposes to Albania.
βIn the third quarter 2016, the arrivals of foreign citizens by land comprised 86.5 % while arrivals by air and sea comprised respectively 7.1 % and 6.5 % of a total number of arrivals,β it was said in the report.
The number of visitors entering Albania through land cross-border points is related to vacationers from Kosovo, who enter through Morina border crossing point.
