Albanian Agency of Statistics (INSTAT) published a latest report on the number of foreigners that visited Albania during the half of 2014. The report shows the number of tourists increased by 29.4% more tourists compared to the same period a year earlier. About 230.000 foreigners visited the country over the period, compared to 184.500 foreigners at the same period of a year before.
Statistics also show that the number of Albanian citizens that went out of the country for tourism purposes, increased slightly by 3.6% in the first half of 2014, comparing the percentage with the one of the previous year.
95% of foreigners visiting Albania in the first half of the year came from the European continent. Foreigners from Southern Europe countries increased by 25.6% and those coming from Western Europe countries increased by 15.4%, compared to the same period of 2013.
INSTAT figures show the mayor part of tourists entered in Albania by land, about 86.4% of them, 10.7% of them entered in the territory of Albania by air, and 3% of them by sea. This shows the Balkan region has become attractive to be visited, according to tourism experts.
