During the third quarter of 2014 agriculture sector increased by 1.19%, according to INSTAT official data. Agriculture experts say the increase of revenues by this sector decreased during this period of time compared to the second quarter of the year (April-June).
This, according to them, has come as a consequence of the bad weather which damaged agricultural production. Low temperatures and unpredicted rainfall during springtime damaged arboriculture products as olive and grapes.
Following these developments, the Ministry of Agriculture tried to boost production by increasing planting of various crops, since Albania has the possibility to cultivate more than 60 different crops.
The sector of fruits and vegetables is set as one of the priorities in agriculture sector which aims the support of agricultural production. Albania has very favorable climate conditions, geographic location and a long tradition in cultivating different crops.
