The Albanian government plans to privatize the remained industrial facilities. This initiative is part of the strategic document on policies for non-food industry sector for 2016-2025.
According to this document all the industrial facilities will be privatized by 2018.
“It is aimed to achieve a partial rehabilitation of former industrial facilities through a more efficient process of administration. Therefore, the remained assets should be privatized by 2018. This will provide a maximization of their value. They will be used for industrial producing activities and other services of economic interest,” the document says.
Special attention will be paid to the metallurgical sector and especially to copper. According to the government there are two plants that can be developed, but the pre-feasibility studies will give the final answer about them.
If the results are going to be positive, this means that the two plants will start work and new jobs will open.
“If new investors for the administration of mineral resources, for the copper factory of Rubik and the wire factory of Shkodra are found, new opportunities for export and employment will open,” it is said in the document issued by the Ministry of Energy.
