The number of Albanian women that own or are administrators of enterprises has slightly increased. According to the data provided by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) in the business register for 2014, about 28.5 percent of total active enterprises are owned or managed by females, while 31 percent of active enterprises created during 2014 are owned or managed by women.
Trade economic activity is most favorite by females. Compared to males βTradeβ economic activity has the highest participation of females, by 34.2 percent.
Moreover, 47.9 percent of enterprises owned/managed by females have trade economic activity. 16.1 % of active enterprises with 50 and more employees is owned or managed by women.
Speaking about distribution, 47.5percent of enterprises owned or managed by females are in the prefecture of Tirana, while the lowest level was registered in the prefectures of Kuksi and Dibra.
