The IMF delegation is expected to arrive in Tirana capital within Tuesday to hold meetings with the Albanian government. The focus of these meetings will be the structure of draft budget and the fiscal package for the next year. On Wednesday, the IMF delegation and representatives from the Ministry of Finances headed by the Minister Shkelqim Cani, will meet and discuss on these themes.
The IMF representatives to Albania have requested an overview on the macroeconomic developments in the country during this year and will discuss with the Ministry of Finances the draft budget and the fiscal package the Ministry has compiled for 2016. The pairs will also discuss on the simplification of several procedures regarding sectors of tourism and handicrafts.
Official sources from the Ministry of Finances say the new draft budget and the fiscal package have been compiled based on the revised Macroeconomic and Fiscal Framework for 2016-2018, approved by the government by the end of July of this year. According to preliminary figures of the Macroeconomic and Fiscal Framework during 2016 the economy will grow by 3.4% of the GDP.
The IMF delegation is expected to hold meetings with the Minister of Economic Development Arben Ahmetaj and the Bank of Albania Governor Genti Sejko.
