An IMF delegation headed by the Chief of the IMF’s Mission for Albania Nadeem Ilahi has arrived to Tirana, in the framework of the Fifth Review of the agreement for the term of three (3) years reached between the IMF and Albania.
According to official sources from the Ministry of Finances, the IMF delegation will review and analyze the entire system of public finances in the country. The IMF officials will analyze the macroeconomic situation of the Albanian economy, the balance of payments powered by the loan of IMF provided for the government and the current fiscal conditions.
The Ministry of Finances says that the IMF delegates will have in their agenda a meeting with the Bank of Albania’s Governor Gent Sejko and the Ministers of Finances and the Economic Development. My the mid May, the Executive Board of the IMF ended its forth review of the economic performance of Albania under the Extended Fund Facility, by providing an amount of EUR 35.9 ml to Albania.
By the end of February of this year, the IMF delegation approved the second and third tranches of the IMF loan for Albania.
