On Wednesday, October 14, the Ministry of Finances and the Italian Embassy to Tirana launched in a conference the fourth Call for Proposals of the Italian-Albanian Debt for Development Swap Agreement for local units and NGOs in Albania. The conference’s panel was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Albania Massimo Gaiani, the Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani and the vice Prime Minister Niko Peleshi.
The Italian-Albanian Debt for Development Swap Agreement aims to support initiatives in the social development sphere proposed by the local units and active nongovernmental organizations which operate in Albania. These projects must be in line with Albania’s government National Strategy for Development and Integration and with the National Plan of Action for the Implementation of Stabilization Association Agreement. These strategies relate to priority sectors such as the development of a comprehensive and quality education system, vocational training and lifelong learning, public healthcare system, the social involvement, the generation of new jobs, the sustainable territory development and the social cohesion.
For the first three Calls for Proposals in the period 2013- 2015, the program has financed 31 projects at a total value of EUR 11.6 ml. The fourth Call for Proposals will provide funds for projects focused in the reduction of inequalities between regions regarding the social development and the support of 61 municipalities in Albania. Albanian public institutions and Albanian NGOs which set partnerships with Italian NGOs, Italian local entities and international organizations can apply when a new Call for Proposals is published at the IADSA’s official page. The deadline for proposals is set to be January 28th, 2016.
